Gorge of Malaga-Santa Maria-Santa Teresa-Machupicchu
4 days/ 3 nights
Marvelous route over four days which ultimately leads us to the lost city of Machupicchu, we cross the Santa Maria and Santa Teresa valleys before a spectacular descent into the forest. During this trip we pass through the jungle in the mountains close to Machupicchu and walk along ancient Inca paths where you will experience breathtakingly beautiful scenery. The river crossing by cable car helps to make this trip even more exciting and full of adrenalin.

Tour Description
First Day : CUSCO -Santa Maria
We leave Cusco (3,300 metres above sea level) at 8.00 a.m. and travel by bus towards the sacred valley of the Incas.. We pass the town of Ollantaytambo as we head towards the mountains. The four hour journey brings us up to the Gorge of Malaga, the highest point on the tour at an altitude of 4,350 m, we then descend down to the village of San Luis. Here we leave the bus and get ready to start our 80km downhill adventure on arrive at the settlement of Santa Maria (1,430m altitude) where we spend the night.

Second Day : Santa Maria- Santa Teresa
After a hearty breakfast we start the 8 or 9 hour trek from Santa Maria toward the marvelous jungle. The trek begins with an ascent up the mountain, following the river we will experience amazing scenery, animals, plants and waterfalls where we can take a refreshing bath. Lunch is in the village of Quellomayo before heading towards Santa Teresa, taking a bath in the hot springs at Cocalmayo along the way.

7.00 am. Start of trek to Santa Teresa
12.00 m. Lunch in Quellomayo
4.00 pm. Beautiful bath in the hot springs at Cocalmayo.
5.00 pm. Arrive at Santa Teresa
7.00 pm. Dinner, overnight in Santa Teresa.
Third Day : Santa Teresa- Aguas Calientes
Santa Teresa lies at 1,900 metres above sea level.
After breakfast we cross the village in a cable car and then walk for three hours until we arrive at the hydroelectric village. Here we take a break and visit some of the archaeological sites in the area as well enjoying the local flora and fauna. After a relaxing lunch our adventure takes us on a two hour hike along the old train tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes where we spend the night. In the town we can visit the hot springs in the evening.

Fourth Day : Machupicchu
Today is the most emotional because at last we get to visit Machupicchu.
Very early in the morning we start the climb up to the lost city of Machupicchu, once up there we receive a guided tour and then return to Aguas Calientes, where we await the train back to Cusco, concluding the tour.
